We are pleased to announce the 2008 Annual Conference will be at the Golden Nugget casino & hotel on Fremont Street - September 8-10, 2008. If you missed the 2007 annual conference, you missed a great conference! NAFC gives its gratitude to all those professionals that took time to share their knowledge and expertise with their colleagues.

Keynote Speakers

We are pleased to announce that the keynote speaker at the general session for the 2008 annual conference will be Dr. Gene Abel.

Gene G. Abel, M.D. is the Director of the Behavioral Medicine Institute of Atlanta, the Founder and President of Abel Screening, Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Co-Founder of The Child Molestation Research & Prevention Institute.

Gene G. Abel, M.D. is a full professor of Psychiatry who has taught at several medical schools, including Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Abel is currently affiliated with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.

He is past President of the National Society for Behavioral Medicine, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a member of the International Academy of Sex Research. As full professor, he has been a research psychiatrist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, has been on the faculty, and conducted research at several medical schools, including Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Emory University Medical School. In addition, Dr. Abel has trained criminal justice personnel in Georgia, New York, California, Texas, Florida, Maine, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Alabama. He has also trained U.S. Navy and Air Force personnel to manage the sex offender populations in their brigs.

Honorable Hale R. Stancil - Florida Circuit Court Judge and Claudia Timmons, MS - "Detoxing from Prison" will be speaking at both luncheons.

If you are interested in being considered for a workshop time slot, please contact NAFC at 260-426-7234 or E-Mail us for a Presenter Proposal Form. We encourage all those interested to submit early as time slots fill quickly. All scheduled presenters attend the entire conference at no charge.

Examples of subject matters are, but certainly not limited to: Sociopathy/Psychopathy, Prison/Inmate Related Issues, Offender/Ex-Offender Issues, Sexual Abuse/Addictions/Victims/Offenders, Psychopharmacology, Mental Health Issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Domestic Violence, Anger Management, Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy, Evaluations/Treatments/Therapies, Dual Diagnosis, Eating Disorders, Criminal Justice, Addictions, Grief/Trauma, Ethical Practices, Cultural Issues, Child Custody, Adolescent-Child Issues/Behaviors/Abuse/Neglect/Offenders, etc.

All presentations should meet/include the following:

● Presentations should last, but not exceed, 1hr & 45min.
● Presentations should be advanced level and allow for questions and/or participation from attendees.
No "Info-mercial" type presentations will be considered. Advertisers may purchase vendor booth space by contacting our office.
● A brief One (1) Paragraph Biography - Must include educational/work experience, list of current licenses/certifications held.
● Copies of all handouts that will accompany your presentation. Presenters are responsible for all their own materials.
